God's Wisdom, Key to Success and Health |
||
|
Spending
time meditating on the Word gives us wisdom, success, and health. It is a
lifestyle and a process. Imagine a lifestyle of no more foolish words coming
from our mouths. Add success and purpose, enough prosperity to meet our need
and the needs of others, and radiant good health. Oh, and joy, of course!
The Bible tells us how we can have it all. It is no longer a mystery or a
fable, but requires our commitment to God. 1.
Meditation builds wisdom in our lives to help restore our souls Meditation
is a pleasant "murmuring" of scripture (Word) to your-self. Psalm
1:2: "In his law cloth he meditates "It means to murmur and ponder
in pleasure, over and over again. When
we meditate on Scripture we begin to see life as God sees it. Let us look at
the life of David: "Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day
long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with
me. "I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on
your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your
precepts." (Psalm 119:97-100 NIV) Ha!
Right now some of you are thinking of ways to set aside more time for
meditating on God's Word. You want the incredible blessing of wisdom. Solomon
asked God for wisdom above all else. And what did God say in response to
Solomon's request for wisdom? "The Lord was pleased that Solomon had
asked for this. So God said to him . . . I will give you a wise and
discerning heart . . . Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked
for-- both riches and honor-- so that in your lifetime you will have no
equal among kings. And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and
commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life."
(I King 3:10-14 NIV) 2.
Meditation gives good success and prosperity which helps restore our souls. "Blessed
is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the
way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law
of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He
is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prosper." (Psalm.
1:1-3 NIV)
3.
Meditation is one of God's key sources of healthy bodies. Proverbs
3:1-7 describes a person who obviously meditates on the Lord and His
Word. Then Solomon makes this wonderful statement, "This will
bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." (Proverbs 3:8
NIV) In
the next chapter Solomon instructs his Son to meditate and memorize
scripture and tells him what the reward will be. "My son, pay attention
to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your
sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them
and health to a man's whole body." (Proverbs 4:20-22 NIV) 4.
Meditation produces praise and joy which restores our soul.
